The way I read the article.. pay the fee and get support.
Don't pay... no support. Need a part.. pay the fee, plus parts cost.. get
the part.. Pay the fee, get the life extension inspection details for 1/2
cost.
It will be interesting to see how the FAA views this, the Euro "feds"
require current manuals.. and updates.
granted our manuals must be current too, all ADs are downloadable from the
FAA web sites.
But to pay a fee to the builder company just for the privilege to fly
another year... ??
While I'm not a fan of this method of recouping their expenses, I think
it's fair to say DG Flugzeugbau did not build the gliders that will be
charged the yearly fee. Those were built by the company that went
bankrupt. DG Flugzeugbau IS saying they will continue to support the
gliders THEY built without charge.
