Downloading .igc fliles from Volkslogger
SeeYou or TaskNav scoring software uses the generated igc file name to
identify which trace belongs to which contestant as each contestant has
their logger serial number as part of their data (along with name/contest
id/glider type etc). The files are picked up automatically, manual
intervention to select a file is only needed in extremis. I can't comment on
Winscore.
The normal igc 8.3 file name consistes of a three character year/month/day
(0 for 2010, 3 for march, 2 for the second day) this is all base 36. Year is
0-9, Month 1-C, day 1-W (31 Dec 2009 = 9CW)
followed by four characters, 1 for manufacturer of FR (C-Cambridge, A
Garrecht[Volkslogger], E-EW, L-LX/Colibri, etc) then 3 being the serial
nukber of the FR, (e.g. A02N)
followed by 1 digit representing the number of the trace for that day (so if
you have three flights they will each end 1,2,3 respectively).
so for example, 9CWA02N3.igc
In my experience, traces with an X a generated by XCSoar or maybe SeeYou
Mobile, not downloaded from a Flight Recorder. If Strepla is creating igc
filenames with weird FR Serial numbers I would suggest it is wrong to do so!

Except I suspect many CDs would find it easier if the contest ID was
encoded into the file name.
Why? At US contests that use Winscore a contestant's flight log can
be selected and viewed without any reference to the file name.

For when the things that are supposed to work don't. And you are left
with a bunch of files to work though or sort out. I ended up having to
do that last year at a contest.
