would boost the thrust, which it did and does.

Mid 1950's we used "deionized water" (whatever that is) in warmer climes
and "water-alcohol" in colder climes (freezing on the ground wasn't real
cool)
Attached "Youtube" clip, (not mine) which many have already watched,
is a B-47E takeoff run with "water-alcohol" or "deionized water", as well
as 33, 1000lb thrust "JATO" bottles burning on the jettisonable
"horsecollar" rack. Even with all that, a heavy weight B-47 would have to
be launched after runway temperatures dropped below triple digits

I remember that well. Our RC135Ds used water injection down to about 25F. At
that temp the air was dense enough to give us the required thrust to get
those hogs airborne prior to runway runout. This was on a runway of 14500'
with 500' overruns at elevation of about 550'. Was interesting at times.
