Required rating for doing annual inspection

Mike,
Any glider in the Experimental catogory can have its yearly Condition
Inspection performed by any mechanic with the Airframe rating.
If the glider has an engine the mechanic would also need the
Powerplant rating.
As you know if it is an "Amateur Built" i.e. homebuilt glider, the
builder may qualify for a certificate that allows the bulider to
perform the Condition Inspection. This is the mis-named Repairman's
Certificate.
An Inspection Authorization, which is a seperate certificate from the
A&P, is needed only when conducting a Annual Inspection for a Type
Certificated aircraft, i.e. SGS-2-33 etc.
