I assume you mean directly with a cigarette lighter power outlet.

The answer is, it depends.

There are some chargers that are 12-24V and some that are 12V only.

You need to look at the specs for your charger.

If the only thing you ever want to charge is the iPad, there are several
others out there that are 12-24V.

Big trucks also have 24V systems.

Amazon has one that is less than $5.
