Default Accident Investigations (Hijack of WRSD thread)

To me it was highly informative that of all the pilots facing the same
storm, Tom S with the greatest experience chose to run away from it
and land at Boulder 70 or so miles from home. In my estimation, that
decision put him at the top of my list of good pilots.

It also helped that I was last to the scene, having flown a bit farther
NW than the others. Also, my wife Karen is always looking out for me,
so provided airport reports, hooked up the trailer and was on the road
as a gentle suggestion that I should go elsewhere.

Get-home-itis is just as bad for sailplane pilots as it is for airplane
drivers. That's why the US contest rules now provide for the safety finish.
