Okay, I'm just being my normal cheap-ass self here. Wings and Wheels has the fill valve I want on page 36 (Aerox PB (Schreder) In-line Fill Valve - for 34 bucks. That seems... um, a bit high. Is it that special?
Thanks
Knock yourself out, and save a few tens of dollars. You could go to the junk yard and cut a Schreader valve off an air conditioning unit and build your own... but oops that may not handle anything like 2,200 psi or more of highly reactive oxygen. And nah don't worry about the possibility of an oxygen explosion with improper seal material or lubricants used in the fitting.
These are life support systems and involve handling a fairly dangerous compressed oxidizer. Seriously buy the part from Tim and stop asking for dumb advice here.
And even with the right part be careful assembling this make sure it threads in all the way (its got to handle 2,200 psi or so pressure), no lubricants, don't get it accidentally oily by handling or leaving on a workbench, use Oxygen safe PTFE tape (which may be overkill but mostly just says the PTFE is not contaminated with solvents/lubricants and is less likely to cause an oxygen explosion and kill you). And be prepared, that tape will costs you more than the crap PTFE tape you buy at Home Depot.
