This attitude is very obvious to visitors to your shores: as far as the
US mass media is concerned, if it didn't happen within the continental
USA it isn't news, give or take a few stories about Israel or US troops.

I've never forgotten watching the main ABC evening news in LA some years
back. It was a 60 minute slot, but only the first ten minutes were an
approximation to real news: 4 in-city stories that might get on local
news (one was a mom-and-pop store fire in Ventura) here plus a DC
political story that was covered like it was foreign news. That was it:
the rest of the 50 minutes was sport.
