It's a fairly honored attitude in the arts. Seems to me it's ten years
or more since I read of a woman artist who specialized in smearing her
nude body with chocolate sauce (body art) who was turned down for a

I'm sure that the National Endowmen for the Arts hastened to send her
a check.
I think I remember that.
Must have been the Reagan fascists running the NEA at
the time.
Or maybe it's just a cruel world with no decent sense
of art appreciation.

Or maybe it was the series of "art" that came out about then featuring
a) a woman smearing her nude body with her own feces; b) a crucifix
upside down in a bottle of urine; and other such fine works of "art."
Big uproar from the middle of the country about those things and from of
us that live on the Middle Coast too.
