Getting the shot is mostly a matter of panning with one of the aircraft
in focus and holding the button down while six frames are taken and
hoping for the best.

But you have to follow the one that's going to be nearer to you! I
managed at last to get the Red Arrows crossing at Duxford, but because I
was panning right to left, following the wrong one, I got a sharp Hawk
partly obscured by a blurred one. D'oh!

Sometimes you get lucky though (Thunderbirds at Waddington, 3 July 2011)
