any information on where this was taken? Also what are the planes in
the background? The C-130a prototype first flew on 23 August 1954 and
the C-133A on 23 April 1956. The tail doesn't look like a C-124?

Did the "B" model have drop tanks and a "horse collar" ATO rack? I thought
those were on the "E" model.

according to Wikipedia (that bastion of infallible fact-NOT!)@
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_...ojet#Variants:
"The B-47B was also fitted with a pair of jettisonable external tanks,
carried between the inboard and outboard engine assemblies. These
external drop tanks were very large, with a capacity of 1,780 gal
(6,750 l)"

Also the poster's picture
(http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CH8Q_h0wDA)
is identified as a U.S. Govt photo and also contains the same date and
information. Note also the aircraft on the right in the background
with the large T-tail. The only a/c I can think of that is that size
is the C-141 (Pre C-5) whose first flight was 17-Dec-1963
