Anyone know the back story on this particular aircraft?

I'm a bit pushed for time right now, but a quick skim of the www came up
with the following:

42-23551 D20Apr43 - FD867 RAF 07May43 - UK 20May43 - G-AGHJ/ODZX BOAC 21
May43 - Yl-GHJ Iraqi A/W L 12Dec46 - G-AGHJ BOAC 24May47 - BEA 11Jun47 -
Pionair "Albert Ball" 07Apr51 -W AfricanA/W Corp L - BEA - Alares Dev Co
(Jersey A/L) R05Jan61 - Autair (Luton) Ltd R 13Mar62 - Avn Lsg Ltd
R08Apr63 - Libyan Avn L 1964 - Wfu Luton 1965 - Canx 31 Dec69 - B/u.

Also, this a/c operated (under BOAC reg) in late 1943/early 1944 between
RAF
Lyneham and Rabat, Morocco.

Thanks very much. Do you or anyone else know why the wings and engine
nacelles
look as if they have been buried in the sand for a couple of centuries?

Not buried ......... but burnt after an engine fire it would seem from the
discolouration of the ground below and behind the wing. No prop blades
either.
