My father turned 91 this week. He initially qualified in the P-47, but
moved to P-38Ls and flew with the 5th AF, 49th FG, 9th FS, from New
Guinea, to Leyte, Lingayen Gulf, Okinawa and Japan. He flew two tours,
and almost 600 combat hours in 180 missions, had 4 confirmed kills, &
two probables.
