Default Trains and planes - Hermes.jpg (1/1) [339K]

Despite appearances, this isn't an early attempt at a highly integrated
air-rail network but rather what happens when an aircraft can't stop on a wet
runway.

The aircraft is a Handley Page Hermes (G-ALDC) of Falcon Airways, the
location is Southend Airport near London and the date is 9 October 1960.

The passengers were in rear-facing seats so there were no casualties.
