Hi Evan, as I dig into Borgelt more and more......agreed! Bloody

Hmmmm may need to consider options.

I think the Tasmin V1000 is also worth a look. Our club Puchacz has one
installed. As I've been known to go soaring solo in the Puch, I've paid
the Tasmin a fair amount of attention. Its noises are nice and its
response rate is good. It uses a circular LCD display with series of
blocks round the edge that show in sequence so you read it like an
analogue dial. There is a digital averager readout in the screen centre.
Nothing to fiddling with either: the only controls are on/off and a pair
of buttons for volume control.

I've also helped a clubmate install a V3 in his glider. It seems quite a
nice instrument and easy to read, but for two points:
(1) its set-up menu is a bit of a fiddle
(2) its noises are irritating, the more so because there's no option
to have silent deadband around zero (or wasn't with that
firmware version). The only choices were silence or a continuous
drone from zero sink on down and it used a tone that would get on
my nerves.
