From looking at the flight log carefully, and seeing it depicted in 3D,it is clear he was trying to be as low as he could over the last obstacles before a difficult field and missed seeing the wires. I do not think the turbo had any affect, other than not starting as he had hoped shortly before.

Looking at Google earth it seems that there were good/better fields down in the valley. Perhaps left decisions to the last moment?
