Default High performance homebuilt in the UK

We had a high performance experimental homebuilt visit the National gliding
championships at Lasham last week. All carbon, retractable, 2 seat, 100hp
Rotax, 145knot cruise. The wings looked like a carbon version of the Robin with
the outer half bent up. Estimated max level speed was about 165-170 knots with
amazing economy. The flaps were of the slotted Fowler variety with a negative
setting for high speed- just like a glider. Also like a glider the wings could
be removed in about 10 minutes for hangerage or a trailer. Tyres and
undercarriage were suitable for operating off grass strips

It sounds like someone has taked a number of steps towards my ideal aircraft.
All they need now is a powerfull ,light weight deisel engine capable of running
off Avtur or road going deisel, based upon a modern car engine to keep the
costs down. ( 2litre BMW all alloy 150hp anyone?)
