"Per Billy Hill this evening: today Angel Pala was thermalling with

Where is the JS1 rudder vented ?

Sure lucky it ended OK for the pilot !
Best Regards, Dave

I am surprised that the rudder went full over, and slip would not center
it
Rudder vent?
Does not the JS-1 have an extractor dorsal vent?
