These incidents point to the probability that air line crew naps are
an "accepted" part of airline cockpit culture. If each pilot were
tasked with assuring the other remained awake, such incidents would be
much more improbable.

When 2-pilot crews became common on long range operations years ago,
I predicted that these type of incidents would become more common.

The Flight Engineer served a very useful function in airline operations.
