BOLT 74/BOLT 75: KC-135R, MacDill AFB 6AMW
3:10pm: Lands as BOLT 74. [Mark Cleary has reported "BOLT 75 departed from KCHS
at 1910z," so either the pilot and ATCs were making an error, or the Center's
flight strip had him as 74 for this inbound leg.]
4:20pm: Departs as BOLT 75 to Homestead. Miami refuses the handoff from Daytona
Departure due to inop transponder. After long hold over Melbourne VOR to await
Bingo fuel status and RTB Patrick, Miami permits BOLT 75 to continue to
Homestead.
7:30pm: Later, during my power nap, my good friend John Henault hears BOLT 75
report to MacDill's Lightning Ops: "25 min out with inop IFF transponder and
unable 121.5/243.0."
