Case of airport OR runway:
At big places like KIAD and CYYZ,
it's easy to have a runway in sight, but not the whole airport.
Been there, done that.
Probably the same at KDFW and KDEN, too.

Case of airport-only (with no control tower):
Special consideration for those hard-to-see grass strips, maybe?
