I finally found a photo:

One of the early circular winged aircraft.

Rob

Was it ever built and did it ever fly?

Dan, U. S. Air Force, retired

Yes, from 1909-1913 in three seperate forms: glider, powered
monoplane, and powered biplane.
A replica of the powered biplane is seen at the Shoreham Museum in
Britain:

The Royal Aeronautical Society has photos of the original biplane
version from 1911.

Rob

p.s. this is not the first circular aircraft.
