Sometimes it can include the total scalp (alopecia totalis) or even all the body and scalp (alopecia universalis). It is not feasible to predict how considerably hair will be misplaced. Regrowth of hair in typical alopecia areata is normal more than a time period of months or, from time to time, years, but cannot be guaranteed. The hair in some cases regrows white at minimum in the initial instance. Further hair loss is not unusual. In alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis the probability of total regrowth is significantly less.
