A friend of mine, now deceased, was an RNZNAF pilot flying Mosquitos at the end
of the war. He told me he flew over London the evening after peace was
declared, and saw Trafalgar Square below. It's unlikey the aircraft in question
is his, but your query brought up this memory. I'd rung him on the anniversary
of the war's end in 1995, and he passed that story note on to me orally. He
also shot down a German aircraft very close to this time.
