All versions come with terrain data pre-loaded and the US version is also
supplied with obstacle data.
You can now update the terrain data from the Garmin website, but at $295
it's very expensive.
If you're doesn't have terrain I'd contact Garmin.
PS: I'm thinking that you might have switched to the terrain page and seen
the "big red X" - if so this occurs when the GPS doesn't have sufficient
satellites for a 3D fix - it doesn't mean that the terrain database isn't
loaded.
