it is not tiny at all. the explanation you are looking for is: "a
picture shot with a wide-angle lens at close distance". for the very
same reason the nose of a dog on a close-up shot with a wide-angle lens
looks bigger that it is in real life

cargo capacity for carrying weapons.

I would suggest that lack of weapons is a temporary condition, more
for the Japanese public than anyone else.
