They were, and they were used, and I'd be surprised if they have not
continued to be used over Afghanistan and the Pakistani border region since
then. The use of all three platforms was reported during the earlier
operations conducted in Afghanistan; that CNN is acting as if this is some
kind of new development is hardly surprising, given the poor accuracy of
their military reporting to date. Not sure how much value the JSTARS adds to
the mix, given the terrain and nature of the target.
