I emailed the seller and asked him how he came up with the price for
his 2-33. *Here is his response:

I came up with the asking price based in the fact there are few of
these aircraft available, If someone wants to buy one they have a few
choices- find one someone is willing to sell and negotiate the selling
price- or buy a refitted one that will cost 65,000.0 and take 4-6
months, and when new SGS 2-33's are available new in three or four
years it will cost in excess of 95,000 at today's market plus
inflation. So for a used aircraft in good condition the half way point
is a good place to start considering the market. If a seller want to
move it sooner he will sell for a little less, I am not in a hurry,
and it is a sellers market.
Those whom are making the complaints are up set that I will not give
the aircraft away, no one is placing a gun to there head forcing
money, it is a choice a buyer makes if that person believes the
aircraft is worth what I a asking. That is called a free market, this
is not a Communist or doctorate ship country people have a choose,
"the people whom do not see that or refuse to acknowledge freedom it
do not deserve freedom"- MLK Jr.

This concept of free market may not appeal to all and some people will
attempt to throw cold water in order to get me to bend to there will
but I don't push or bully that easily, should you wish to make a
reasonable counter offer I will look at it and if I like it I will
make a deal with you if you like the glider you will make a deal with
me if not, I thank you for the brief conversation and we will both
move on to the next deal. OK,

Is someone planning to start making 2-33s again? * I hadn't heard
that... * And what is a refitted one?

K&L the outfit run by Kyle and Less Schweizer, will overhaul and
completely *refurbish a 2-33 for about 65K, depending on the condition
of the bird that can be more or less. They have the paperwork/type
certificates for most of the Schweizer gliders and have said if they
can get enough orders they would build a run of new gliders. They are
making parts for their gliders *now. With most of the glass 2 place
stuff being 150,000$ , there may be a market.- Hide quoted text -

The Grobs at the major overhaul point in there airframe life and no or
little factory support? At least you can still get Schweizer parts...
