Marine Corps officials said Wednesday that they have no intention of
buying new helicopters rather than the V-22 Osprey, rejecting a key
recommendation of a new study produced by two Washington think tanks.
....
Thompson said he expects Congress, and eventually the Marines' senior
leadership, to consider the recommendations, given the need to
replenish Marine combat capabilities and looming defense budget
constraints.
Or they could cut the money from another service that's mostly idling
right now and whose techniques were just proven mostly useless in
Lebanon. (The USN could also use a small slice of this slush fund to
run a study on anti-ship missile defense.)
