Has anybody picked up their glider in Europe and flown it prior to
shipping?

I am curious if it can be done without any expensive registration or
tax in the country that it was manufactured in.

Hey... as long as it is there in the middle of the summer and ready to
fly... why not?

Flying in Europe could be a lot fun. Just plan on spending at least a
week, preferably more, in a "easy" site with a good runway, lots of
landing options and easy flying, to get accustomed to it and to get
all the bugs out. Bugs meaning instrumentation, maybe engine tweaks,
etc. It's not something you want to rush. It might be possible to do
the first week or so near the factory, so any problems can be dealt
with immediately. Check with Dagfinn, as he is looking into doing the
same thing.
