Navy Jet Crashes Off Coast Of South Carolina

A Navy F/A-18 "Hornet" on a training mission out of Beaufort, S.C.,
crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Just before 1 p.m. the Mayport-based Coast Guard buoy tender Maria
Bray radioed that a military plane was seen going into the ocean.

The pilot was rescued by Navy personnel and brought to Hunter Army
Airfield in Georgia for a medical evaluation.

Station Beaufort, S.C., returned Feb. 25 fro...
