Default Flying from Vegas to Carson City

Jean does have fuel, self serve, bring a credit card, no one to pump it for
you. Nice casino within walking distance for lunch. It is not tucked in as
tightly under the Class B as Boulder City.
When leaving Jean, go west towards Good Springs, clear the Spring Mountain
Range there, south of Mt Potosi and then head up the Valley to Beatty. A lot
easier dealing with Class B shelves that way, and easier than getting over
Red Rock after staying below the Class B from Boulder to Henderson to Red
Rock. There is no FBO or phone service for FSS contact, but your cell phone
will work. Also you might be able to reach FSS via the RCO on Mt Potosi
while on the ground.

I've flown from Phoenix to CXP in September the past couple of years to
park there during the Reno Air Races. You've got the right idea. Jean
airport (0L7) has fuel (although I just noticed that for some reason it
doesn't have tick marks on the airport symbol on the sectional), and it
skirts the class bravo a bit more easily to the south. Stick close to
V105 past Beatty and Coaldale - it threads through the special use
airspace nicely.

I'm planning to fly from Tucson to Carson City in a couple of weeks.
I'll
probably make a refueling stop in my Archer at Boulder City, then skoot
under the Vegas class B to the west and head up towards Beatty and on to
Carson City.

Do any of you have experience with flying this route? Any suggestions for
a
better one? Its a bit of a wedgy with Restricted airspace to the east
and
the Sierra Nevadas to the west.
