Plain and simple bull****. The BRAC "list" currently circulating (often
from folks who should know better) is a regurgitation of the list created by
Carlton Meyer, a former Marine captain and defense policy hobbyist. His
vanity web site is here
http://www.g2mil.com/. If you'd like to compare the
"list" making the rounds on the internet and emails with his, try this link
http://www.g2mil.com/2005.htm. It was published first in January 2004, he's
added some more commentary and rationalizations to it since he first derived
it.

Meyer's queer for bases that are neither too large nor too small ... IOW,
"Just Right" sized ... The Goldilocks principle. If you scan his site, he
has some good ideas. He also has some ridiculous ones (blind squirrel
principle?).

What's fascinating is this thing has developed a life of its own. Not
unlike the post about all the bad things that happened to POW's because of
Jane Fonda's visit (an arguably traitorous act ... but small potatoes
compared to Lt. Kerry's visit to the NVN delegation in 1971) or the flight
800 conspiracy garbage. Unfortunately, I think the continuing propogation
of Meyer's "list" may actually influence the process.

Nice work, John. Love the analogies too.
