Definitely 3M spray adhesives are the way to go. There are two general types.

1) 3M Super 77 which is for thinner non-porous materials - spray on and boom things are together forever. You won't get a second chance to adjust things.
2) Foam Fast 74 which I would recommend for porous materials like carpeting - spray on and wait for it to get tacky before placing the material, you will still have some ability to move things around for a bit of time.

Watch out for over spray. I'd practice on some scrap material.
