I think it is a term that kind of crept into input device
descriptions. It simply means quantized analog inputs, with
the meaning of the input determined by the variable they are
assigned to in the game/sim. Obviously it originated
in roll, pitch, and yaw, but if you look at the FSUIPC
documentation, there are many possible analog inputs to
FS9.
