The point of getting media coverage is to promote our sport. It's
easier than you think. It took me 10 minutes to use the "Record"
template from the new, revised Soaring Publicity Handbook. I emailed
it to the city desk Monday, met a photographer on Tuesday, and made
the front page (above the fold) of the only newspaper in the 4th
largest city in America Wednesday.

I introduced the new SSA Media Kit and the handbook that I wrote at
the convention. The Media Kit has 65 pages of documents and pictures
that the media is free to use.Both are available in small jewel box
CDs and soon will be available on-line. Call the SSA office, and they
will send you what you need. Remember, it's up to each of us to
promote soaring locally, and it's fun to get your picture in the paper
without having to break any laws.
