As many of you know, Israel stopped being a Democracy in
the 90's when, to counter the Arab census, they brought in a
bunch of Russians who agreed to be called Jews

Being Jewish is from the maternal side of the family not any institution. There
may have been no synogogues in the Soviet Union, but that didn't stop the Jews
from being Jews.
