AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — Damian Schlussel will readily admit that he’s
not the best mountain climber stationed in northern Italy.
But who knows? One of those who might some day lay claim to that
mythical title could have to give some props to the 28-year-old Air
Force captain.
After all, he’s been the main force behind the base’s fledging
mountain climbing program.
“There are people out there who are a lot better climbers,” Schlussel
said....
