Default Low compresion 500 hour Cylinder outcome

Well, it had to be pulled and sent to the shop for overhaul. A&P thinks
the valve guides need redone (calibrated?).

Took 'er up around the pattern to see if the compressions would come up
from a hard run, and for the first 4 take offs and landings, engine
performed wonderfully. 35 minutes later and the fifth time on downwind,
engine started missing, so needless to say, made a very short approach to
landing. What a better time to practice spot landings :-)

So to answer the question whether high RPMS fix compression issues, in my
experiences, it did not.

Compressions were 30 after that jaunt. Cylinder pulled and sent to Holly
Springs MS for service. Will get it back hopefully Thursday and be back in
the air on Friday.

I watched the A&P pull the cylinder and the rings were not frozen, they
seem to move freely to me. Minor dark coloring on the side of the piston
head, some carbon on the top (I ran full rich, not surprised or alarmed).

Cylinder walls were sparkling clean throughout except near the top part
where the piston meets the spark plug. Some dark coloring in that area.

Still amazes me how such precision is designed in a area of the engine that
beats itself up :-)
