For those interested you can view the full text patents that relate to Dr
Sinha's work. These provide further technical detail on how the deturbulator
strip works.

References are listed on:
http://www.sinhatech.com/SinhaBackground.asp
per Dick Johnson's post.

Then go to:
http://patft.uspto.gov
and do a search ... you will find the patent listed on the above page + some
other associated patents that were not referenced above. I was unable to
located the two patent applications listed on Dr Sinha's web site. If anyone
can find them please post the details here. Alternatively the patents may
have been issued .. needs more research.

You need to download and install a TIFF plugin for your web browser to view
the patents but that is no big deal.

The June-July issue of Gliding Kiwi features an enlightening article
about the developement of a new very thin surface mounted passive strip
that promises to reduce aerodynamic skin friction drag significantly.
The article is complete with photographs, preliminary flight test data,
and explanations as to the functioning of the deturbulator. It is being
tested on both a sailplane and a light powered airplane.
Most of this article, and more recent updates can be seen by going
