I am going to the Seaplane flyin in Moosehead Lake (Greenville, Maine)
from Colorado in my Husky Amphib. A direct route takes me through
southern Canada and I plan on visiting Hamilton air museum. Anyone
have any info on good places to land and or camp along a fairly direct
route Colorado to Maine?

I flew a somewhat more southerly but reasonably direct route in 1995,
from Longmont, CO (2V2) to Bar Harbor, ME (BHB). Good stops of note
were Plattsmouth, NE (cheap gas, friendly folks), Port Meadville, Pa
(nice countryside), and Plymouth, IN (nice folks golf-cart you to the
on-airport inexpensive but decent motel). Also Kankakee, IL had the
cheapest 100LL I've ever bought, at $1.55 (though that was in 1995).
My info is dated so take it for what you will. If I do the trip again
I'll definitely bring a tent and do better planning, specifically
looking for airports with on-field camping or accomodations within
walking distance. When in-town accomodations are miles from the
airport it adds significantly to the hassle factor and ground time.

Good luck with the trip. I'm also a seaplane pilot and would love to
attend the Greenville fly-in, but I've never been able to make it. I
for one would love to read a trip report after you get back if you've
got time to post it.
