Staying on the ground if you're unsure about the weather seems like
a pretty good idea in retrospect as well.


While you could have launched, and had a look, a decision that errs on
the side of prudence is ever preferable to one that relies on chance.


Yeah, I thought about that too. I finally decided that I could deal
with a fifty knot headwind. I could deal with severe turbulence. I
could deal with clouds. I could deal with mountains. I could deal with
ice. But I couldn't deal with all those things at once. Best case
scenario I'd get home frazzled. Worst case, well, let's not go there.
By staying on the ground I got to have a fun flight home instead of a
grueling one. That counts as a net win in my book.
