Probably because Bush will be in the NW and they wouldn't want to
scare the world famous Cold War interceptor pilot to death if he looks
up and sees a Bear.


A similar visit planned a couple of years ago - on the 65th Anniversary
- was cancelled because a Swiss company, called Noga, was suing the
Russian government for alleged unpaid debts.

The 2002 visit was to have included a couple of Sukhoi Flankers - and
Noga were threatening to get a court order to impound them in the US.

They tried a similar ploy at the Paris Air Show in 2003 - but the Sukhoi
& MiG companies was pre-warned and flew the Su-30 and MiG AT back to
Russia before the bailifs could slap the order on them.

I had read that the dispute had been settled - but maybe not ?
