LX 7000 igc pro to winpilot
Have installed Winpilot adv on RS235 o/p from LX. It gets a fix no problem.
However the LXdec function does not seem to work. The LX "connects" to the Ipaq and the Ipaq shows declaration sent. However the declaration does not appear on the LX. Anybody any ideas ?? Stuart Kinnear |

Stuart --
I'm curious, where/how are you connecting your iPAQ to the LX? My glider came with the LX7000 installed so I'm not well versed in the details, but it has a round 5-pin connector mounted in the panel that the proprietary LX serial cable connects to for connection to PCs, and it also has a device behind the panel that provides the interface to my iPAQ (running WinPilot Pro). The latter connection runs at 4800 baud and cannot (as far as I know) be changed, but the panel connection uses the speed specified in the LX7000's menu system, and for that I use 38400 baud. Curiously, I can use ConnectMe (or ConnectLX, the same program except with fewer "device" choices) on the iPAQ across the internal 4800-baud connection but I still have to go to select TRANSFER in the LX7000 for it to work. Also, if you don't get an answer to your question here, be sure to e-mail LX Nav, they have been good at responding to my help requests (support[at]lxnavigation.si). -ted/2NO Stuart Kinnear wrote: Have installed Winpilot adv on RS235 o/p from LX. Stuart,
It depends on the kind of cables you have. If the cable goes directly to the LX7000 then WinPilot can only receive data and cannot transmit and the Ipaq is not powered by the LX7000. If you have a Y cable setup with a Power converter and a declare switch then WinPilot can make a declaration to the Colibri. Also the LX7000 can use WinPilot PRO, which has direct winds, climb maximizer functions. Richard www.craggyaero.com |

I have both rx and tx lines connected to the rs235 connection in the LX. I
saw the reference to the switch in the literature but could not understand its function. Their is no other serial device attached to the LX. Which line does the switch break and why is it necessary. ???? Lx obviously dont support Winpilot and getting answers re this topic is difficult, otherwise their support is excellent. Thanks to all replies Stuart wrote in message oups.com... Stuart, It depends on the kind of cables you have. If only the LX and your PDA is connected than it's simple: ground connected both ends(used for data and PDA power also), Tx on LX side connected to you PDA's Rx, Rx on LX side goes to PDA's Tx, finally PDA power supply also connected. This way the communication is bidirectional, so you can declare your task etc-etc. /Janos Stuart Kinnear wrote: I have both rx and tx lines connected to the rs235 connection in the LX. We recently hooked up an LX 7000 Pro (with an IPAQ connector)to a Remde cradle with an rs232 connector. We therefore had to cut off the connectors from the LXIPQ (Power and communication) and Remde mount and spliced the wires directly. The following shows how were hooked the units up ... LX and IPAQ upload/download fine with SeeYou and CE Nav software and uploader programs. Black - Cradle Power and Logic Ground - Black wire from LXIPQ Red - Cradle Five Volts(+) for PDA - Red wire from LXIPQ Blue - Cradle Data From GPS to PDA - White wire from LXIPQ Grey - Cradle Data From PDA to GPS - Green wire from LXIPQ We just defaulted to the WinPilot setting on the LX ... even though we were talking to other software. BTW, The following wiring details from the LX Navigation manual in regard to the LXIPQ (we thought) did not match up with the wire colors when we actually removed the cable insulation/shielding. 38 series: red and yellow +5V 1,3 2,4 white rx 7 black tx 8 shield GND 10 Hope this helps ... Look at the LX7000 PRO Version 2.O Manual Page 68. When the Switch is
in the NMEA position. the communication is between the Ipaq and the Colibri, a task can be declared with WinPilot PRO. In the data mode the NMEA stream is sent to the LX7000 and it adds vario data then to the Ipaq with WinPilot PRO. Richard www.craggyaero.com |
