I am planing on sending a glider to AMS for refinish and as you can
imagine freight is a big issue. Can anyone offer guidance to shippers or freight forwarders that may take the glider and trailer as RO/RO to either Kopers in Solvenia, or Trieste, in Italy (my base port would be Baltimore). These two ports are much closer to AMS than Bremerhaven. I am a newbie at freight so any help would be appreciated. Thank you |

I imported an Apis from AMS a couple years ago. I put the trailer in a container and shipped all the way to the west coast. the cost broke down not too much different, the reason being that driving your trailer around adds up quickly on a per Km cost. There is also the peace of mind that the glider/trailer is in a locked box. RO/RO shipping was not a siginificant cost saving. Mark |
