For those of you interested in trying your hand at Grand Prix Sailplane Racing (short of qualifying for the real deal), here is your chance!
Each weekend (alternating Sat/Sun) one of the US Nightly Soaring races will now become US Nightly Soaring Grand Prix. These races will be scored as a brand new series via true Grand Prix scoring!
US Nightly Soaring has been designed by its founder's to be short (1-1.5 hr), relatively easy flying conditions (compared to MNS for example) and always FUN! We use TeamSpeak for communication and banter during the racing. It is a great time and is highly attended!
The results of the new Grand Prix format racing have been incredible over the first couple weeks of test run's. Attendance has been strong (over 20 pilots is common) and growing. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Grand Prix is the manner in which the competitive pilots fly. No more sitting back and flying thru the pack of markers. You have to make your own decisions. This to me has been eye opening and nothing short of fascinating.
Thanks to Daniel Sazhin and JP Stewart for sacrificing a little bit of their hugely popular US Nightly Soaring Condor series for some full on Grand Prix racing!
