New Runway at Moriarty!
On Tuesday, December 18, the new runway at Moriarty, NM (0E0) was officially dedicated by the State of NM, City of Moriarty and representatives from all airport users. The new pavement is 6,200 ft. x 75 ft. and is aligned North/South. This means that we are finally going to be able to reduce our crosswind TO/LDG practice. Construction officially started September 4, and was completed a couple of weeks ago, well ahead of schedule and under budget!
Now with the main runway (26/8, 7,500 x 75) and the new 18/36, usage of the airport should increase, both for power traffic and soaring aircraft, as the sometimes excessive crosswinds occasionally limited flying activity.
The Alnuquerque Soaring Club, Sundance Aviation and the City of Moriarty invite all soaring pilots to come out and enjoy some of the World's best soaring at one of the most glider-friendly airports anywhere.
Thanks to the Federal Aviation Administration, NM State Aviation Division (NMDOT), City of Moriarty, Moriarty Airport Advisory Board, Molzen-Corbin Engineers, Mountain States Constructors and everybody else who worked for the last 14 years to make this happen!
