Default Problems with FlarmTool software in Win8

Hello,

I find it impossible to run the Flarm update software (flarmtools
v5.xx) on any Win8 machine, even in XP compatibility mode.
The faulty item is that, in the COM port selection box, nothing
appears. Thus the program can't communicate with the flarm unit, and
it freezes.

I tried also with an earlier version (5.08) which works fine on my
oldest desktop pc, but still it freezes on the Win8 laptop.

Any solutions? any means of running flarmtools on a PDA?

thank you all
