Default Lithium 3.6 Battery

After a long trip towing my glider I was going thru the cockpit and on the floor I discovered a Lithium battery in a black plastic holder on the floor near the instrument panel, (I hate when that happens).

The battery is about th same size as a AA and i have no idea where is came from or goes. No sign of any breakage with the plastic holder. All instruments, radio and warning devices are working.

Any ideas?

Some varios have a small back up battery that is mounted outside the vario by the owner, often not mounted well enough. (ex: B40 uses a 9V).

OK, give us a clue, what instruments do you have in your panel?

It's unlikely to have come from a Winter vario, ASI or Altimeter.

Winter and Sage varios, Lnav with Cambridge GPS, Becker Radio. All instruments and radio work and the LNAV has a internal disk back up battery.

Is the Becker remembering the preset frequencies when turned off for an extended period of time. If it is not remembering them, It might be someone replaced the internal battery with an external one.

Brian you hit it on the head. I couldn't solve the issue until i flew the glider at a different airport and went to put in new presets and they were lost after i turned the radio off. I then contact the former owner and he said there was a battery in the wiring behind the radio. Have you seen this before? Any advice as to where i might find where the battery went? I won't see the glider again until this weekend.
