Ron Schwartz has been pounding the Appalachian Ridge system since shortly after dawn this morning in his trusty 1-26. As of now (about 14:00 local) he's got about 600K under his belt and looks to be across the Potomac for the tricky Sleepy Creek Mountain transition. Assuming this works out, he has "only" about 200 miles of mostly downwind transitions to get back to the local ridge. Choose Blairstown Airport from the SSA Sailplane Tracker page:
http://www.ssa.org/sailplanetracker/default.asp? Erik Mann p.s. Ron claims he's hard of hearing due to years of sitting right next to the big radial engines in the S2F he flew for the Navy. We know it's due to all of the oil-canning. |
